‘I don’t go to a Catholic school, so I’m always getting asked questions about why I go to Church and why I go on retreats and stuff. Most of the time my friends are really open and they want to know about things. It doesn’t mean they all believe in Jesus after we’ve been talking, but it does mean they get to hear something about God’s love – which is a good thing!
I was with some friends who don’t go to Church and aren’t sure if they believe in God, and we got chatting about the film of the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. We got talking about how it’s an allegory for the story of Jesus, which they didn’t know – so I got to tell them the story of Jesus by linking it back to the film!
‘My RE teacher asked our class who believed in God. No-one put their hand up except me. Then he asked me to explain why, so I talked about my family being Catholic, and how my faith has become important to me. It was hard because everyone was looking at me and stuff, but I got a merit for having had the courage to say, and for having explained it well!!
