Your Church

Jesus said ‘when two or three of you are together because of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.’
(Gospel of Mathew: 18:20)

The Church isn’t always quite as we would like it. Maybe the sermon’s too long… or the music too boring… or the people too grumpy.

Mahatma Ghandi once said ‘Be the change you want to see in the world’. Whether it’s your talent as a musician, or the fact that you can smile at people, you have something special to bring to the Church. If you wish your Church was different, why not do something about it.

Get involved in your local Church

If you don’t regularly go to Church, ask your Mum or Dad if they would take you, or if you could go with a friend’s family.
Speak to the priest to find out if your parish has a youth group, or whether you could set one up.
Get together with friends to think about what you would like to see happening at your Church, then take your ideas to your parents or the Parish priest to ask for their support.
Chat to your priest about becoming a reader at Mass, taking up the offertory or handing out the newsletters.

What advice would you offer a friend if their sports team played its matches at the same time as Mass on Sunday? Do they have to choose between hockey or Mass, or is there another way?

Why is it important to me to belong to the Church?

Jack
Tom

‘Church for me is a good place to stay in touch with my friends’
(Jack, 13)

‘Being part of the Church helps
me to pray’

(Tom, 13)

It’s official, the Church has left the building…..find out what it’s been doing.
