Did you know that the Bible is a collection of books within a book? It's like a library squashed into a single book....
The Bible is in 2 parts: the Old Testament (OT) and New Testament (NT). The Old Testament was written before Jesus was born, and tells the history of God and the Israelites. The New Testament is the story of Jesus, and the Church when it was brand new.
All the books included within the Bible have at least two authors…The Holy Spirit, and at least one other person
God worked through different people’s gifts and talents, as well as their weaknesses to write the Bible
There are different types of books in the Bible… history books, poetry, prayer books and letters about how to stay close to God in daily life.
    



Did u know

When you see numbers after quotes from the bible, for example ‘Genesis 1:27’, it means the book of Genesis, chapter 1, verse 2.

One of the ways God communicate with us
is through his word in the Bible.

Which books did you write Moses?
Bits of Genesis and Exodus (though not the bit that describes my death and burial ;-)



Personal bests in those books?
Meeting God in the burning bush, leading the people out of slavery, getting the 10 commandments from God, (that's me with the commandments above - I can tell you those stones were heavy!) and the manna (it's a kind of bread. God gave it to us when we were in the desert) that appeared from heaven (it’s SO my favourite food).

Tips for people reading them today?
Don’t take things too literally! We didn’t have the science knowledge that you do now – we were just trying to figure things out. The important message is that God, our creator, shows that he loves us and is with us, even if he did make me carry the 10 commandments around all the time...
The Bible Don't be put off that the bible and the words can seem strange.
The Bible Words of wisdom for younger people? Read ‘1 Timothy’, about half way through the New Testament.
The Bible General guidance on life? Go for ‘Galations’, a book about half way through the New Testament, a few books before Timothy!
The Bible Other people’s prayers that might help you? Have a look at the ‘Psalms’ – in the Old Testament, about half way through the whole Bible.
The Bible Something on God’s love? Take a look at ‘1 John’, a book really near the end of the Bible.
The Bible The shortest book?! ‘Jude’! The second to last Book in the whole collection.
