How to use the Yfaith website with your children

The Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation (CASE) strongly encourages parents and carers to spend time online with their children and to participate in their child’s use of Yfaith. In addition Yfaith can be a tool for teachers to use with their students.

The older your children or students are, the more likely they are to want privacy, but try to seek a balance between giving them space to explore alone, and finding pages that you can look at together.

Here are some top tips to using Yfaith with your child:

Download activities for off-line use (Also suitable for teachers and students)

Visit our downloads page for more details.

Let them take the lead

Don’t expect your child to be interested in particular pages just because you are. Let them choose what to look at.

If you’re not a Catholic you and your child are very welcome to explore our faith. The site is intended for young adults of any faith to come and take what is of value to them and to discuss what they find.

Be inspired

Let your child’s enthusiasm inspire you to explore your own faith. If you want to know more about Jesus, visit our Life4seekers website. If you want to know more about how your faith can make a difference in your life, a good starting point could be our case-resources website, or the CAFOD website.

Pray for your child

The best support you can offer your child is to pray for them in their faith journey. If it’s helpful you could use this prayer:

Loving God,
May my son/ daughter come to know you more, and be touched by the truth of your love for them. Help them to love themselves, others and the world around them, and to be a source of hope and peace to all they encounter.
I make this prayer through Christ our Lord,
Amen.

Be safe

It is important to provide your children with guidance about staying safe online.

For more information regarding keeping your child safe on line, please visit ‘Think you know’ (http://www.thinkuknow.co.uk/parents/), a site created specifically for parents and guardians by CEOP ‘(Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) or Childnet International Parent Support.
